Rangitoto College invites applications for a full time permanent position as an art teacher, Curriculum Leader of Painting (1MU) in the Visual Arts Department, commencing Term 1 2026. Please state any further media or subject specialities.
We seek an innovative and enthusiastic teacher who demonstrates a deep engagement with the visual arts, as well as pedagogy. The department is collegial, collaborative, creative, and successful, with passionate teachers who specialise in a range of media. Large (for an art department), we consider our diversity to be our strength. The right candidate will be an art teacher who is proven to be effective, with experience planning and teaching curricula in Painting to NCEA Level 3 and Scholarship, excellent classroom routines and artist model knowledge, and the ability to break down art techniques to support a range of abilities. Experience with IB Visual Arts is a benefit too.

Contract and remuneration will be in accordance with the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement (CA) https://www.education.govt.nz/school/people-and-employment/employment-agreements/collective-agreements/. as assessed by the Salary Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Education. Annual remuneration is dependent on service and qualifications, between $61,329.00 - $103,086.00 per annum plus allowances as above. Hours of work will be as set out in the STCA.
