ESOL Administrator - 30 hpw, term-time only, fixed term, commencing Term 1 2026
Rangitoto College is a highly successful, leading secondary school dedicated to excellence. We are looking for an experienced, highly organised, and culturally sensitive Administrator to support our large and dynamic ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Department. This is a crucial role ensuring our department runs smoothly and our ESOL students receive the support they need to thrive.
The Opportunity: Term-Time, 30 hours per week, part-Time, 1 year fixed
This is newly created role and a Term-Time Only (TTO) position, perfect for candidates seeking school-hours work. You will be instrumental in the success of a department supporting over 400 students from diverse backgrounds.
- Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:40 am – 3:20 pm).
- Pay: Competitive rates on the Support Staff in Schools Collective Ageement SSCA https://www.education.govt.nz/school/people-and-employment/employment-agreements/collective-agreements/support-staff-in-schools-collective-agreement Grade 3 scale, dependent on your experience.
Responsibilities Include:
- Compliance & Funding: Leading the administrative collation and submission for the bi-annual Ministry of Education ESOL Assistance Funding (ESOLAF).
- Data Management: Maintaining accurate student records and performing data entry/reporting in our Student Management System (e.g., KAMAR/FACTS).
- Administrative Hub: Providing high-level support to the HoD, teachers, and teacher assistants, including minute-taking and managing departmental communications and resources.
- Student Support: Building trust and relating effectively to young people with diverse needs, acting as a key administrative contact point.
About You: Key Skills and Attributes
You are a systems-focused administrator with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proven experience in a complex administrative role (school environment experience is highly beneficial).
- Cultural Sensitivity and a professional, warm manner when dealing with students, parents, and staff.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with a School Management System (FACTS).
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines calmly.
- Highly desirable: The ability to communicate effectively in an ESOL-related first language in addition to English.
