Te Ao Haka and Te Reo Teacher 2026
Rangitoto College is seeking a permanent Te Ao Haka teacher to join our Māori (Te Manu Taki) Department to start Term 1 2026.
Role Overview: As a Te Ao Haka teacher, the successful applicant will be pivotal in delivering high-quality, culturally responsive education in the Te Ao Haka curriculum. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, fostering a supportive learning environment, and contributing to the overall cultural enrichment of our school community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Te Ao Haka across various year levels.
- Develop and implement culturally relevant and dynamic lesson plans.
- Support and encourage students’ language development and cultural understanding.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular integration of Māori pathways.
- Participate in school-wide cultural initiatives and professional development.
- A relevant teaching qualification and current registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
- Proficiency in Te Ao Haka and a deep understanding of Māori culture.
- The ability to teach Te Reo Māori.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and cultural competency.
- Be part of a cultural development programme (Tū Rangatira) to enhance cultural identity.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Contribute to the preservation and promotion of Te Ao Haka and Māori culture.
- Be part of any of our Kaihoe whānau and support any of our kaupapa: Tū Rangatira, Kapa Haka, Kī ō Rahi and Wānanga Series.
