Assistant Head of Department - Technology

Our Design Technologies curriculum offers a diverse range of subjects, including Design and Visual Communication, Electronics, Food, Materials, Textiles, and STEM, alongside industry-aligned technologies such as Construction, Engineering, and Hospitality.

Please be aware that Digital Technology is offered within a separate department.

Exciting developments are underway at Rangitoto College, as we have been approved for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art learning centre to house all Design Technologies. Construction is expected to begin in 2025, creating an innovative environment that fosters both teaching excellence and student-driven projects.

This is a Full-time, Permanent position, with 3 MUs, commencing Week 1, Term 2, 2025. 

The successful candidate should possess a genuine passion for developing teaching expertise and leading in the field of emerging technologies. Our department is well-equipped to support a wide range of student projects. Experience in teaching technology scholarship is advantageous.

Contract and remuneration will be in accordance with the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (STCA) https://www.education.govt.nz/school/people-and-employment/employment-agreements/collective-agreements/secondary-teachers-collective-agreement as assessed by the Salary Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Education. Annual remuneration is dependent on service and qualifications, starting rate of $$61,329 and top rate of $103,086. Hours of work will be as set out in the STCA.
