Assistant Learning Area Leader English, Permanent, full-time.
This position is to commence at the beginning of Term 1, 2027.
We seek a professional, innovative and enthusiastic team player to join our English Learning Area. We invite applications for a student-centred teacher of English who is passionate about delivering high-quality education and nurturing a love for literature and language in our students. Our leadership team is proactive, visible and aligned, ensuring that we are actively realising our department goals.
This role, firmly established in teaching and learning, would suit someone who has a passion for pedagogy and whose practice is very much research-informed. This person would demonstrate a readiness, or prior experience, in leadership.
As a valued member of our dedicated English Learning Area, you will contribute to a collaborative educational environment, where professional growth and development is encouraged and supported. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in teaching English, preferably up to NCEA Level 3, and perhaps Scholarship.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Secondary Teachers Collective Agreement (STCA). The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $66,999 to $107,886 depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. An individual’s actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
We would anticipate the hours of work to be approximately 40 per week.
