Ko Taku Reo is looking for an exceptional teacher to join our Kelston Team. This is an opportunity to grow your expertise - from being a great classroom teacher to becoming a great Teacher of the Deaf.

We’re looking for a teacher who brings curiosity, energy and fresh ideas to help our learners thrive. You’ll have strong knowledge of teaching and learning, a commitment to student wellbeing and a passion for making a difference. We’ll support you to develop skills in NZSL, and deepen your understanding of Deaf Culture and the Deaf community.

  • 1 FTU (Fixed Term Unit)
  • Small class sizes (2–10 students per class group)
  • PLD and daily support to become fluent in NZSL
  • Highly supported classrooms with Teacher Aides of the Deaf, Speech-Language Therapists and Educational Interpreters
  • 5 days CRT per term (as per PTCA), plus additional release during induction
  • Eligibility for an MoE Study Award to complete a Postgraduate Teacher of the Deaf qualification, with significant release time provided
  • NZSL allowance (on completion of study)
