Deputy Head of Enrolled School - Secondary & Post Secondary

Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education is a specialist school for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. We have a focus on growth, learning and collaboration. You will be joining a nationwide team and you will share their passion and enthusiasm for delivering high quality education and services to DHH students and the whānau we support.

As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening leadership and enhancing educational outcomes, we are looking to appoint a Deputy Head of Enrolled School – Secondary and Post Secondary. This is a leadership position that supports the Head of Enrolled School and collaboratively leads teams to strengthen best practice across our secondary provisions and careers/transition programmes.

Priorities of this role include leadership in teaching and learning for our enrolled students, with a particular focus on students completing NCEA and those within our Transition (Towards Independence) programme. The role assists in the development, monitoring and implementation of NCEA assessments, including examinations, and the review and monitoring of student progress and achievement.

This role includes the Principals Nominee role for Ko Taku Reo. You will work closely with teaching teams to strengthen student academic and wellbeing outcomes, support the development of qualification pathways for students, and help ensure our assessment and qualification practices meet NZQA requirements. You will also use assessment data to inform teaching and learning, support staff development and contribute to ensuring school procedures and processes remain current and fit for purpose.

You will need to be a fully registered, experienced educational leader with a Teacher of the Deaf qualification. You will have recent teaching experience, proven leadership experience and experience within Deaf and Hard of Hearing or Special Education settings. You will also need a strong understanding of the New Zealand education sector and be proficient in NZSL, or willing to learn.

This role is Auckland or Christchurch based and is not suitable for beginning teachers. We may look to interview prior to closing, so please apply early.
