Director of Sport

Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for sports leadership and administration? Wakatipu High School is one of NZ’s highest performing schools both academically and in sport and is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Sport, to further advance sport and active recreation at WHS and to  deliver on the school’s ambitious strategic plan for sport.

This is a permanent, full-time position (Grade 6 on the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement) where your administrative expertise will be paramount. The Director of Sport will have significant experience and demonstrable proficiency in:

• Administration: Including scheduling, planning, reporting and communications.
• Leadership: Guiding and coordinating sports programmes, managing staff, and the strategic direction of the department.
• Programme and Athlete Development: Overseeing the logistical and administrative aspects of development programs.
• Marketing and Promotion: Managing the administrative aspects of marketing and promotion (including newsletters and social media).
• Developing Community Relationships: Coordinating and managing communication with external partners.
• Budget and Finance: Demonstrating financial management and reporting skills.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A degree in sports management or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in sports development/management with a proven track record of exceptional administrative performance.
• Exceptional organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
• The ability to manage complex administrative tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
• The ability to work with a range of stakeholders, including teenagers, while maintaining a high level of administrative professionalism.
• Ability to implement strategic plans and achieve annual goals.
• Advanced skills in relevant computer software.
