Head of Counselling

Christchurch Boys’ High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Counselling to lead and strengthen our student support services. This is a key leadership position within our pastoral team, providing strategic direction, and hands-on support to ensure the well-being of our students.

The role:

• Start: Term 2, 2025
• Remuneration: 2MUs + 1MMA

• As the Head of Counselling, you will:
  • Lead and manage the school’s guidance team, ensuring best practice in pastoral care and student wellbeing.
  • Provide professional guidance and support to students, staff, and families.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that promote student wellbeing and resilience.
    
  • Work collaboratively with the wider pastoral and leadership teams to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Play an active role in staff professional development, contributing to school-wide initiatives and training.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with external agencies and community partners.

     

The ideal candidate will:

• Preferably be a registered teacher with a relevant counselling qualification and extensive experience in student pastoral care.
• Have proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and support staff and students.
• Be passionate about boys’ education and the unique challenges it presents.
• Be highly organised, adaptable, and an effective communicator.
• Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.
• Be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school, including co-curricular activities.
