Christchurch Girls’ High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora is seeking a passionate and positive head of the Māori department. This is a full-time permanent position. Applicants must be able to teach te reo Māori to our senior students and understand the requirements of NCEA. The successful applicant will also be confident in upholding tikanga Māori.
The HoD Māori will bring extensive life experience and expertise in supporting Māori ākonga, whānau, iwi, and communities. This HoD role incorporates the Kaiāirahi Māori responsibilities needed to support our Māori ākonga and whānau, this will involve working alongside leaders of learning and the pastoral team to enhance our care and uphold high expectations for all Māori ākonga. They will lead and advise on culturally responsive organisational practice, which supports Māori to succeed as Māori.
The HoD Māori will prioritise a relational and responsive culture while shaping a future focused curriculum. They will foster a team spirit of collaboration amongst staff and engage in reflective practice. A willingness to contribute to and participate in the corporate life of the school, school-wide co-curricular activities, extra-curricular activities, and events is essential.
This role comes with 2 MUs, 1 MMA and 6 hours release time per fortnight.
