Rangitoto College is seeking a permanent Head of Department of Māori (Te Manu Taki) to start Term 1 2026.

Role Overview:We are seeking a passionate and visionary Head of Maori to lead and develop our Te Manu Taki (Māori Curriculum) department. This role involves overseeing the delivery of Te Reo Māori, whakairo, Te Ao Haka, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring that our Māori curriculum is both effective and enriching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Te Manu Taki (Māori Curriculum) department, including curriculum development and staff support.
- Enhance the delivery of Te Reo Māori and support the Māori cultural education across the school.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students and staff.
- Drive initiatives to promote and integrate Te Reo Māori culture within the broader school community.
- Work alongside the school’s Kaihautū who oversees Mātauranga & Te Ao Māori across Rangitoto College in growing Māori pathways for students.
- Collaborate with school leadership to set and achieve strategic goals for the department.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A relevant teaching qualification and current registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
- Proven experience in teaching Te Reo Māori.
- Strong leadership and management skills with a commitment to cultural excellence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
