Laboratory Assistant
Pinehurst School, a Year 1-13 private school in Auckland of 1100+ students, is looking for a motivated and well-organised Laboratory Assistant to work in our College supporting the Science Department.
The position is a part-time position of 25 hours per week, term time only. This position would be suitable for someone who has a passion for the Sciences and is either studying Science part-time or is looking for part-time work.
Key Tasks:
- Assist the Science Technician as instructed to maintain the smooth function of Science faculty teaching
- Assist in setting up laboratories for class lessons, including some handling of chemicals.
- Assist in the set-out and tidy up of experimental and practical work as necessary including cleaning
- Assist with the setting up of computers and other ICT apparatus within the Science faculty
- Assist with the preparation of the laboratories and equipment for internal and external CIE practical examinations
- Assist in the care for living specimens, plants etc.
- Assist in labelling laboratory equipment, apparatus and supplies
- Assist in the handling and preparation of some chemicals and solutions
- Assist in keeping laboratory equipment stocks current
- Assist in researching new practical’s to facilitate student knowledge and experience.
- Assist with filing sorting and compilation of scientific-practical resources.

independently and professionally, manage time and conflicting priorities, and
take the initiative. You will be adaptable, bringing a calm, positive attitude,
even when we’re all busy.
