Librarian - Junior School

Kristin School is a co-educational, non-denominational, independent school on Auckland’s North Shore. It provides education for over 1800 students from Early Learning to Year 13. Offering both NCEA and International Baccalaureate programmes, our special character school was founded by parents more than 50 years ago. We are seeking an experienced Librarian to work with our Junior School students. Responsible for providing integrated information services, including digital, hard and soft media resources for all Junior School learners from Kindergarten to Year 6. This role is instrumental in making the Library a vibrant centre of learning, inquiry, knowledge creation, ideas and reading, where all community members feel welcome, supported and safe.
Reporting to the Head of Library Services you are supported by two experienced librarians for our Middle and Senior Schools. The hours are 8.00am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday during term time, with 4 additional weeks across the term breaks to maintain library resources and prepare for the upcoming term.
Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake
This role requires experience working in a school, community or other library. A professional library qualification or currently studying towards a professional library qualification (e.g. Open Polytechnic, Victoria University, Charles Sturt University or other appropriate and recognised course of study) is desirable. Experience working with Primary/Junior School or Intermediate/Middle School age students is required. Experience with the IB Primary Years would be an advantage.
