ABOUT US / MŌ MĀTOU

At Ko Taku Reo we work to provide teaching support and resources to help New Zealand’s Deaf and hard of hearing children reach their academic potential as well as nurture their social and emotional wellbeing and help them form their own identity. You will be joining a nationwide team and you will share their passion and enthusiasm for delivering high quality education and services to the Deaf and hard of hearing students and their whānau we support.

THE ROLE / TE MAHI

In this Christchurch based role, the New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) Services Senior Administrator supports the development and integration of NZSL Services across Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education. This role is pivotal in ensuring that related services and teams across the organisation are connected and meet the aims of our School’s strategic goal of lifting the quality and quantity of NZSL by supporting the NZSL@School Leads and other Pedagogical Leaders, external partners and stakeholders in delivery of the range of NZSL Services provided by Ko Taku Reo.

ABOUT YOU / MŌ KOE

This is a senior administrative role and significant experience is required, as it’s not for the faint hearted!! 

Our ideal candidate will bproactive, positive, and results-oriented person able to deliver a high level of administration support and reporting. You will be solution oriented, flexible and able to manage and prioritise multiple, often competing demands of the service. You will also be experienced in developing collaborative relationships with a broad range of people

An affinity with and understanding of Deaf culture or NZSL proficiency would be beneficial, however, we have systems to assist all staff with communication.

YOU WILL HAVE / KEI A KOE

  • Proven experience in a similar senior coordination and administration role, with experience in Education an advantage 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office productivity tools, with aptitude to learn new software and systems
  • An approachable and inclusive demeanour
  • The ability to understand the demands of a fast-paced and changing organisation
  • Strong understanding of communicator requirements in a diverse organisation
  • Proven ability to liaise and maintain relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
