Pasifika Learning Advisor
Wellington Girls’ College is looking for a Pasifika Learning Advisor to join the school community to promote Pasifika culture as well as support the learning and welfare of Pasifika students by providing mentoring and practical support.
This is a permanent part-time role, term time only (approx 43 weeks a year. )
The hours will be 15 per week worked over 2-3 days a week (negotiable).
Due to the nature of the role, you may be asked to work some weekends ,evenings and occasionally some days during the school holidays to support Poly club, rehearsals and events.
The start date will be 28 April 2025 or by negotiation.
Key duties include:
- Support our Pasifika students in the Fale Wānanga group and the wider school community to embrace their Pasifika identity and reach their goals
- Support Poly Club and the Tu Tagata festival
- Support teachers and colleagues to embrace Pasifika cultures
- Support and supervise small, local trips
- Participate in fono, fiafia nights and other community events
- Have knowledge of Pasifika communities and a commitment to supporting Pasifika students
- Have the ability to communicate with students and families
- Be punctual and reliable
- Have a genuine interest in young people and education
