Property & Asset Lead
Ko Taku Reo is seeking an experienced Property & Asset Lead to provide operational leadership across our national property, asset, fleet and procurement functions. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, this role plays a critical part in ensuring our facilities and assets are safe, compliant, fit-for-purpose and aligned to organisational strategy.
This is a permanent, fulltime middle leadership role overseeing a small team, working closely with internal leaders, host schools, the Ministry of Education and external partners nationwide. This role is based in Sumner.
THE ROLE / TE MAHI
Working collaboratively with the Executive and Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the planning, optimisation and delivery of property and asset management services across Ko Taku Reo (excluding ICT assets).
You will be responsible for end-to-end oversight of property and asset systems and processes, including planning, procurement, maintenance, compliance, fleet management and contractor oversight - ensuring efficiency, safety and value for money.
National travel is required as part of this role.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic and operational management of Ko Taku Reo’s national property, asset, fleet and procurement portfolios
- Ensure all facilities, assets and vehicles are safe, compliant, accessible and fit for purpose
- Manage property planning and compliance frameworks, including the 10-Year Property Plan and Property Occupancy Documents
- Oversee procurement, contractor and supplier performance to ensure value, quality and risk management
- Build strong relationships with the Ministry of Education, host schools, landlords and key stakeholders
- Lead and develop the Property & Asset Team, delivering projects and services aligned to organisational strategy
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION / NGĀ HERENGA MŌ TE MAHI
You are a confident leader with deep experience in property, assets and corporate services within a complex, regulated environment. You bring both strategic insight and practical delivery capability and you are comfortable working with diverse stakeholders.
You will bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- At least 5 years’ senior leadership experience, ideally in the public sector
- Strong working knowledge of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Privacy, Transport, Building, Construction and Resource Management legislation
- Proven people leadership and staff management experience
- Experience managing multiple buildings, fleets and large contracts
- High level of computer literacy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning, problem-solving and decision-making capability
- A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
- NZSL fluency or a genuine commitment to learn
