THE ROLE / TE MAHI
We are seeking a caring, positive and Deaf-friendly professional to join our Residential Team in Kelston, Auckland. As a Residential Youth Worker, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and supportive home environment for Deaf students aged 11–21.
You’ll support our rangatahi with daily routines like homework, life skills and evening activities – all while promoting independence and self-confidence. This is a rewarding role where New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) is embraced every day.
Shift times:
- Thursday: 10:00pm–8:30am
- Friday & Saturday: 10:00pm–6:30am
ABOUT YOU / MŌ KOE
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about youth development and Deaf culture. You will ideally have:
- NZSL fluency or a strong commitment to learning NZSL (lessons provided)
- A positive, team-focused attitude and a heart for helping young people
- Experience working with youth, especially those with diverse needs
- Great communication and relationship skills
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence
- Understanding of Deaf culture, or a willingness to learn
- Knowledge of the Children’s Act and NZ legislation is a plus
