Resource Teacher of the Deaf - South Auckland



THE ROLE / TE MAHI

  • We are seeking an engaging, innovative teacher who has strong communication skills and is a collaborative team player as these skills will be needed in all you do.
  • You will be required to work in mainstream schools and other specialist schools to work closely with DHH students, whānau and school staff/teams. This is a permanent, fulltime role and is based out of the Anton Centre. This role could be part time for the right person.
  • Engaging within your assigned caseload with related record keeping and liaison with families and whanau to assist with student participation and success in their education and life outcomes.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION / NGĀ HERENGA MŌ TE MAHI

  • Proven best practice and experience working with Deaf children and/or working with mainstream children.
  • Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or an experienced NZ registered teacher.
  • Current, clean drivers' licence.
  • Use of own car with mileage reimbursed (with conditions). The caseload for this role covers Papakura-Onehunga/Penrose and Mangere-Bucklands Beach.
  • You will have existing skills, or demonstrate a willingness to develop proficiency, in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening and spoken language practices for DHH learners.
  • Recent practical experience working with the early levels of the New Zealand Curriculum.
