Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) Permanent - Term 2 start date by negotiation
At Rangitoto College, we have an ambitious vision for outstanding educational outcomes for our students. The foundations of this vision are in developing genuine expertise in teaching and classroom practice, honing optimal conditions for learning, and providing a powerful curriculum for our students. We offer both the NCEA and IB Diploma, as well as Junior and Year 11 Diplomas.
The college is investing in the support of our students with additional learning needs through the appointment of an additional SENCO to the Learning Support Department. This role presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a supportive, inclusive and dynamic environment. You will have high expectations of yourself and an appetite for challenge and for continuing to develop.
The SENCO will work alongside the college's existing SENCO, as well as with the HOD Learning Support, Learning Assistants (Teacher Aides) and the teaching staff to support students with additional needs and their whānau. The SENCO will develop and deliver teaching and learning programmes to support identified students and will coordinate support for students within the wider school environment.
Ideally, you will have experience in the secondary sector, and may have held a variety of roles within and beyond the school environment that demonstrate the following competencies and behaviours:

This is a full-time permanent position. Onsite parking available, specialist facilities and staff well-being supports are offered. The role commences in Term 2, start date by negotiation.
Contract and remuneration will be in accordance with the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement (CA) https://www.education.govt.nz/school/people-and-employment/employment-agreements/collective-agreements/. as assessed by the Salary Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Education. Annual remuneration is dependent on service and qualifications, between $62,862.00 - $105,686.00 per annum plus allowances of 1MU and 1MMA. Hours of work will be as set out in the STCA.
