Long Bay
College is seeking an experienced and highly effective classroom teacher to
take on the role of Specialist Classroom Teacher (SCT). This is a unique
opportunity to lead professional learning and support teaching excellence
across the school, while remaining actively engaged in classroom teaching. Long

The SCT role
is designed to:
- Support beginning and experienced teachers to develop effective teaching practices.
- Foster purposeful learning environments that engage students.
- Lead and facilitate professional learning and development across the school.
- Encourage collaborative, reflective, and shared teaching practices.
- Provide confidential, collegial support through mentoring, coaching, and classroom observation.
- This role is not part of performance appraisal
or management, but rather a high-trust, supportive position focused on
improving teaching and learning outcomes.
Eligibility
Criteria
Applicants
must:
- Be a permanently appointed registered teacher.
- Have at least six years total teaching experience (NZ or overseas).
- Have had three successive successful attestations against the experienced teacher standards (or overseas equivalent).
- Be a full-time teacher, or a part-time teacher with a significant teaching load (minimum 12 hours/week).
- Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and
dispositions outlined in the SCT guidelines.

The terms and conditions, including base salary and hours of work, for this position is set by the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $61,329 to $103,086, depending on applicant's qualifications and experience. An individuals actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
