Sports Coordinator (Part-Time, 28 hours, 5 days, 52 weeks)


 

Are you a highly organised administration superstar with a passion for youth sport? Rangitoto College is seeking an energetic, driven, and motivated individual to join our sports coordinator team.

Rangitoto College provides over 40 different sports, encouraging students to challenge themselves, unlock their potential, and embrace long-term healthy lifestyles. Our world-class sporting facilities are among the very best in New Zealand, featuring an Olympic-standard water-based hockey turf, three gymnasiums, a fully equipped modern fitness centre, indoor cricket nets, and close access to the Millennium Institute athletics track.

The Role & Portfolio

This is a permanent, part-time position working 28 hours per week, Monday to Friday inclusive, 52 weeks annually. You will join a collaborative team of five Sport Coordinators (four full-time) who manage a diverse portfolio of sports across the College.

In this role, you will hold responsibility for the administration, coordination, and stakeholder engagement of assigned sports. Your specific portfolio will include a mix of Lead and Support responsibilities.

  • Major department events, with a large involvement in the annual Sports Awards, school sports days, exchanges, and tournament logistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sport Administration & Coordination: Develop annual timelines, coordinate pre-season registrations, trials, musters, team entries, and tournament logistics.
  • Financial & Resource Management: Establish and manage sport budgets, oversee fee collection, and maintain an inventory system for the storage, maintenance, and distribution of sports equipment and uniforms.
  • Communication & Promotion: Build and maintain up-to-date student and coach databases. Collate results, achievements, and imagery to celebrate student success across social media, websites, assemblies, and school publications.
  • Relationship Management: Foster and maintain close working relationships with students, parents, Teachers in Charge (TICs), volunteer coaches, managers, and community sporting bodies.

We are looking for a proactive team player who thrives on challenges and possesses:

  • Proven administrative experience with a high level of attention to detail and exceptional time management skills.
  • An intermediate to proficient level of skill within the MS Office suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a confident approach to conflict resolution.
  • The initiative to self-manage multiple competing deadlines and use critical thinking to solve problems.
  • A strong alignment with fair play principles and a genuine drive to enhance student sport participation at all levels.

Remuneration & Reporting

  • Salary: Paid in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement, Grade 4.
  • Reporting Lines: Reports directly to the Administration Manager - Sport and the Director of Sport.
