Te Ao Haka and Te Reo Teacher 2026


Rangitoto College is seeking a permanent Te Ao Haka teacher to join our Māori (Te Manu Taki) Department to start Term 1 2026. 

Role Overview: As a Te Ao Haka teacher, the successful applicant will be pivotal in delivering high-quality, culturally responsive education in the Te Ao Haka curriculum. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, fostering a supportive learning environment, and contributing to the overall cultural enrichment of our school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Te Ao Haka across various year levels.

  • Develop and implement culturally relevant and dynamic lesson plans.

     

  • Support and encourage students’ language development and cultural understanding.

     

  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular integration of Māori pathways.

     

  • Participate in school-wide cultural initiatives and professional development.

     

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • A relevant teaching qualification and current registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.

     

  • Proficiency in Te Ao Haka and a deep understanding of Māori culture.

     

  • The ability to teach Te Reo Māori.

     

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.

     

  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and cultural competency.
