Teacher Aide (in class support)

At the core of Te Kura Tuarua o Taraika ki Pukeahu (WHS) are Whānau, Excellence, Respect and Ora. Applicants will be committed to continuing the prioritisation of Mātauranga Māori and joining our kura on its journey to being bicultural. We are a coeducational non-uniform school located on Pukeahu. We have a growing relationship with Te Atiawa which supports our kura’s access to the wider community of Te Whanganui-a-Tara, and its potential local curriculum.

We are looking for two suitably qualified and experienced Teacher Aides to join our in class support team. These positions will suit someone who is able to work with and support individual students within a busy mainstream class environment. The ideal candidates will have experience of secondary education, teaching and learning processes, and will work with students across a range of subjects including Science and Maths. The successful applicants will support learning, respond to individual needs and liaising with teachers. Patience, a sense of humour, adaptability and the ability to form relationships quickly are essential.

Experience of working with students with learning needs is advantageous. Experience of working with students with ADHD, specific learning needs and autistic spectrum conditions is desirable.

One position is for 28 hours per week until the end of October, and 23 hours per week thereafter. This is a term time only position exclusive of annual leave and is fixed term until the end of Term 4 2026. 

The second position is for 28 hours per week. This is a permanent term time only position exclusive of annual leave.

Start dates for both positions will be determined dependent on the successful applicants' availability and the return of police vetting checks.
