Teacher Aide (ORS funded students)


At the core of Te Kura Tuarua o Taraika ki Pukeahu (WHS) are Whānau, Excellence, Respect and Ora. Applicants will be committed to continuing the prioritisation of Mātauranga Māori and joining our kura on its journey to being bicultural. We are a coeducational non-uniform school located on Pukeahu. We have a growing relationship with Te Atiawa which supports our kura’s access to the wider community of Te Whanganui-a-Tara, and its potential local curriculum.

We are looking for two suitably qualitied and experienced Teacher Aides to join our He Kākano team as soon as possible in Term 1 2025. He Kākano offers specialised opportunities that ensure safe mainstreaming for our ORS funded students. 

These roles will include working with a student who has complex intellectual and behavioural needs in a predominantly 1:1 situation, supporting this student to work in He Kākano and in the mainstream across a range of subjects. The successful candidates will also work with He Kākano students across a range of subjects, supporting their learning, responding to individual needs and liaising with teachers. An interest in, and an aptitude for Science and Maths would be advantageous. 

These positions will suit someone who has experience of secondary schools and learning processes. Patience, resilience a sense of humour, adaptability and a willingness to learn are important qualities. Experience of working with students with autistic spectrum conditions is desirable.
